Mollie Stone's in the Community
Mollie Stone's has been giving back to the communities we serve in the San Francisco Bay Area ever since we opened our first store in Redwood City in 1986. In over twenty years of business, Mollie Stone's Markets has given millions of dollars to local schools and other non-profit organization, primarily through our involvement with the eScrip giving program. Mollie Stone's and its employees also contribute to the community in many different ways, including through direct service, sponsorship of non-profit events and in-kind donations.
eScrip
Mollie Stone's is an avid participant in the eScrip program, giving money back to local schools every day. All Mollie Stone's stores participate in the eScrip program. Find out more about eScrip here.
Education
Supporting K-12 education is the number one priority of Mollie Stone's donation program. We support schools immediately near one of our stores. If your school is holding a fundraiser and you are looking for sponsors, we would be happy to consider your request.
Highway Cleanup
We sponsor Highway clean-ups on 280 South near Trousdale and on 101 South in Sausalito.
Community Recognition
Mollie Stone's has won numerous awards recognizing our contributions to the communities we serve, including the Business Award from SAMCEDA, the best Grocer for Kosher foods from "J" The Jewish Weekly, Business of the Year by the Marin Economic Commission and the "Leaf Award" from Greenopia for making significant progress on the green continuum.
Preserving the Environment
In recognizing that businesses should take the lead in the protection of our environment, Mollie Stone's is also passionately committed to reducing waste and recycling. Our company recycles over 18 tons of cardboard per week, which is nearly 2 million pounds of cardboard recycled annually. We also recycle more than 1 ton per month of plastic and 3/4 ton per month of mixed paper. In addition, we do back hauling of compost materials from our San Mateo and Burlingame stores. Last month we began a recycling program in all of our stores, collecting cell phones, MP3 players and ink jet cartridges no longer in use which will be traded in through an eScrip recycling program to raise money for local schools.
